A lack of financial inclusion is a major problem, particularly since the world is fast becoming cashless. If left unchecked, there is going to be a major e-commerce divide, with a significant portion of the world’s population being unable to conduct certain financial transactions. This issue has been weighing on the mind of our founder, E. Jay Saunders for a few years.
Domus Semo Sancus (DSS) was founded in November 2014 in the Turks & Caicos Islands (one of the smallest countries on the planet), with the goal to give persons who need it most the tools to achieve financial inclusion. And our Wowlet™ platform is designed first and foremost to address that need at a global level.
However, for us to help the global unbanked achieve financial inclusion, we have to ensure that persons aren’t able to use our tools for nefarious reasons. That’s because every time someone exploits the global financial system, it makes it harder for everyone else – especially those most in need. And so we set out to build a best-in-class tool to ensure that we always know who our customers are, and to be alerted to those that may represent a high risk to us, our partners, and to others; and that tool is SafetyNet™.
Knowing Your Customer is not a unique requirement to DSS, and so to help other businesses that need to know who they’re associating with, we’ve made SafetyNet™ available as a cloud based utility that can be accessed at anytime from anywhere in the world.
Today, DSS has offices in the Turks & Caicos Islands and the USA, with staff across 5 countries. We’ve grown significantly since 2014, but our goal of “Making Lives Better” remains unchanged.
